Team Cherry

Team Cherry is a small Australian studio that self-publishes everything it makes. This page collects what it has actually shipped, what it has announced, and where the line between those two sits.

Team Cherry is a small studio in Adelaide, South Australia. It made Hollow Knight, then spent years making Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it publishes its own games — Steam lists the studio as both developer and publisher.

That last detail explains more about the studio than it first appears to. With no publisher setting dates, Team Cherry announces things when they are ready to be announced and stays quiet otherwise. The gap between the 2019 Fearless Fox trademark and any word about it is unusual by industry standards and entirely ordinary by this studio’s.

What is shipped, and verifiable

Silksong released on 4 September 2025. Its Steam listing gives Windows, macOS and Linux support and categorises it as Action, Adventure and Indie. A separate paid listing carries the official soundtrack — 53 orchestral tracks by Christopher Larkin, and, as of August 2026, the only DLC entry attached to Silksong on Steam.

That last point does real work on this site: it means the announced expansion has no Steam page yet, and so no machine-readable confirmation of its platforms or timing exists.

What is announced but not yet out

Sea of Sorrow, a free nautically themed Silksong expansion, in 2026. A Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition in the same year, free to existing Switch owners, adding high frame-rate modes, higher resolutions and additional graphical effects.

Both come from the studio’s own December 2025 post, which is first-party but not Steam — a distinction worth keeping, since it is the reason this site treats expansion details more cautiously than base-game details.

What is neither

Fearless Fox is a trademark. It has been one since 2019. It has never been announced, described, dated or connected to anything the studio has shipped.

Frequently asked questions

Is Team Cherry self-published?

Yes. Steam lists Team Cherry as both developer and publisher of Silksong. That independence is part of why the studio's release timing has historically been difficult for anyone outside it to predict.

What has Team Cherry announced for 2026?

Two things concretely — the free Sea of Sorrow expansion for Silksong, and a Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition that existing Switch owners receive free. The same post referred to further plans being kept under wraps, without detailing them.

Is Fearless Fox one of those plans?

Team Cherry has not said so. The trademark predates the post by six years, and the post does not mention it. The two are frequently connected by readers and never by the studio.
